Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree

Happy Tuesday and welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!  This weeks topic is Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree.  Here we go, in no particular order:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, The Illustrated Edition by J.K. Rowling - As a huge fan of this series, I need to add this to my collection.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Illustrated Edition by J.K. Rowling - So many scenes I'd like the illustrations from - this'll be a great addition to my collection.

Replica by Lauren Oliver - I've never tried Lauren Oliver before, but this sounds like a great place to start.

Yesternight by Cat Winters - Winters has quickly become a must read author, and I can't wait to try her newest novel.

Jeremy Poldark (The Poldark Saga #3) by Winston Graham - After completing season two of the new adaptation, I'll have to read the two books comprising it.  I'd like to see how similar the books are to the show.

Warleggan (The Poldark Saga #4) by Winston Graham - I'm really looking forward to how much the second half of season two compares to the adaption especially!

Jericho (Lauren Reardon #2) by Alex Gordon - Gideon was amazing - I need to read the sequel!

The Star-Touched Queen (The Star-Touched Queen #1) by Roshani Chokshi - This sounds like a real must-read.

Armada by Ernest Cline - As much as I enjoyed Ready Player One, I'd love to get my hands on a copy of this!

Welcome to Night Vale (Night Vale #1) by Joseph Fink & Jeffrey Cranor - I'm currently midway through year two of the podcast and I'm hooked - I need more!

What do you guys think of my list this week?  What books would you like to find under your tree?  Have you read any of these yet?  Thanks as always for visiting my blog, and for perhaps even commenting below!

  8. I've been really curious about Welcome to Night Vale and have listened to maybe the first five. I like how quirky and weird it is. :) And I thought Replica was pretty good. Loved the concept. Some say it's not her best but I've only read one other of her books and I've liked both.

  12. I feel like an outlier on Yesternight...I really liked about 95% of the book and hated the ending, but it seems like most other people who've read it have enjoyed it a lot more than I have! And those illustrated Harry Potters are a serious covet

  15. I love love LOVE Welcome to Night Vale so I'm glad you enjoy the podcast! I have to say I was not a big fan of the book, but I think it might've been because I prefer short bursts of audio randomness than long rambling written madness on a page! But ultimately it was a good story so I hope you enjoy it more than I did (I found the audiobook really helped!)

  21. I've been coveting those illustrated HP books, but I'm never quite ready to take the leap in purchasing them for myself. Maybe once all seven are released I'll think about yoinking them...

I have Star-Touched Queen! Still haven't read it, though...but I try not to look too guiltily at my super-long list of unread books.

  31. Egads. 50 comments! I have never had so many comments on an of my posts. Wow. Anyway, I just was thinking about Poldark yesterday and how I need to binge watch it so I am caught up. I watched it years ago, in the 1970s and read all the books at that time and LOVED them. I wonder if I still would today?

    1. Up to 64 with this one... I just can't believe that so many people comment on my blog at all...!

Anyway, the new Poldark tv series is excellent! I've seen a couple of episodes of the original - the original Ross does actually show up in the new one, by the way. :) I've only read the first two books, so I'd definitely like to keep going.

  32. The Star Touched Queen was really good- and so pretty, definitely one to have on the bookshelf! And while I LOVE both Lauren Oliver and Cat Winters, those weren't my favorites of either of theirs, but still decent- and I love the covers! I do hope you got all your wishes!! :D

  33. It has recently been made clear to me that I NEED to watch Poldark and I'm sure wanting to read the books will follow shortly thereafter. I am currently listening to Armada and it's so much fun! I've also been making my way through the Welcome to Night Vale Podcasts but am not as far along as you. They are a total delight!

    1. Yes, you need to Stephanie! :)

Very cool - I can't wait to start in on Armada.

Welcome to Night Vale is currently the only podcast I've been listening to - and it's worth it!

  34. The illustrated versions of Harry Potter are so beautiful! Great list of books-did you know Amazon has Star-Touched Queen pretty cheap? Ebook anyway...I hope you got some good books!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Perf list! I hadn't known there were even illustrated versions of Harry Potter. This seems like a missed opportunity for bookish gifts for all of my friends. Oh, well, there's always next year!

I, too, have been pining after Replica. It just seems like such a good concept. And... two books in one? Who wouldn't want something like that?! Also, I get what you mean about The Star-Touched Queen. That's one of the books I heard about nonstop this year. I've been waiting for the general hype to die out around it before because I don't want to be burned by that.

  36. The Star-Touched Queen is sitting on my bookshelf and it sounds like an addicting book but have you seen any of the arc reviews coming in for the 2nd book set in that world? Oh my gosh, people are loving it way more than the 1st book! Here's hoping we love both of them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. OMG, YOU HAVE CAT WINTERS ON YOUR LIST. *flails* She's one of my all time favorite authors, I've read and adored all five of her books, and Yesternight was no exception, SO GET IT ASAP.
I'd love to get my hands on Replica and the Illustrated HP novels, too. :)
    Great list!
